Abstract Objective: To evaluate the influence of Danqi fukang decoction for treating women with endometriosis (EMS) on their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Methods: 120 women with EMS were randomly divided into experimental group and control group (60 cases in each group). The women in the experimental group were treated by Danqi fukang decoction orally for three menstrual cycles, while the women in the control group were treated by gestrinone capsule orally for three menstrual cycles. The HRQoL of all women were evaluated by quality of life scale (SF-36) and quality of life scale for women with endometriosis (EHF-5). Results: After treatment, the scores of SF-36 and EHF-5 of women in the two groups had significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with those of women in the control group, the six dimensions SF-36 of women in experimental group, such as physiological function, physiological function, physical pain, mental health, emotional function and health changes, and six items of EHP-5, such as pain, emotional state, selfimage, relationship between women with their children, treatment expectations, and the relationship between doctor and patient had significantly improved (P<0.01). Conclusion: The HRQoL of women with EMs treated by Danqi fukang decoction is better than that of women treated by gestrinone capsule.
