Analysis of the awareness rate of the nutritional knowledge of women who wanted the second child and its influenced factors |

Abstract To understand the knowledge of nutrition during pregnancy of women who wanted the second child, and to analyze its related influenced factors, so as to provide ideas and scientific data for establishing suitable nutrition intervention mode for women who wanted the second child. Methods: A total of 600 women who wanted the second child in the hospital affiliated to Chongqing institute of population and family planning science and technology were enrolled in the study from May 2016 to May 2018, and all included women were randomly divided into observation group and control group (300 cases in each group). The women in observation group were given individualized prenatal nutrition intervention, which included strict physical quality management, scientific supplemental nutrition, guidance of diet, nutritional exercise, good life style, etc. And the women in control group had received general nutrition guidance and health monitoring during pregnancy. Before giving birth, these 600 women were investigated by questionnaire about prenatal nutrition knowledge. Results: 597 valid questionnaires were collected finally. And in the 597 questionnaires, the correct answer rate of the body mass index, the nutrition compositions for pregnant women, the best food for calcium supplementation, or the best food for iron supplementation were 3.2%, 17.1%, 59.3%, and 53.3%, respectively. There was statistically significant different in nutrition knowledge of pregnant women with different families' economic income, educational level, or whether accepted individualized prenatal nutrition guidance (P < 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis indicated that whether to accept individualized prenatal nutrition guidance was the main factor influenced pregnant women to understand the prenatal nutrition knowledge. Conclusion: The knowledge of pregnant nutrition of women who wanting the second child is not enough, so individualized nutrition education and intervention during pregnancy should be carried out for well pregnancy outcome.
