Abstract To explore fertility regain of women after intrauterine device(IUD) removed. Methods: A prospective study was conducted, and 592 women were followed up for 2 years after their IUD extraction. KaplanMeier analysis and Cox regression mode were used for analyzing the influencing factors for the situation of fertility regain. Results: The average age of all included women was 33.5±3.9 years old (ranged from 22-40 years old). The average time of IUD used was 9.1±3.9 years (ranged from 1-20 years). 493(83.3%)women were pregnant after their IUD extraction, and the mean time from IUD extraction to pregnancy was 8.9 months(95% CI 8.34-9.51), and the median time from IUD extraction to pregnancy was 6 months(95% CI 5.30-6.70). Multiple analyses showed that only maternal age was an influence factor on fertility recovery (RR 1.48, 95% CI 1.19-1.85). KaplanMeier analysis showed that there was significant different in distribution of fertility regain of women between women with aged less than 35 years old and women with aged equal to or over 35 years old (χ2=35.342,P<0.001). At the end of this study, there were 72 women with abortion, 1 woman experienced abortion because of congenital defect, 8 women with ectopic pregnancy, and 386 women with live births. Conclusion: Fertility recovery of women after IUD extraction is related to the age of women and the time of the IUD used. When women with age less than 35 years old and with the shorter time of IUD used, their fertility will recover quickly.
