Abstract To explore the effects of the spouse synchronous empowerment health education for patients with ovarian cancer undergoing postoperative chemotherapy on their self-management ability and functional exercise compliance. Methods: A total of 116 patients with ovarian cancer undergoing postoperative chemotherapy were divided into control group (58 patients with the routine nursing intervention) and observation group (58 patients with the spouse synchronous empowerment health education combined with the routine nursing intervention) by random number table method from July 2021 to June 2023. The selfmanagement ability, the unhealthy emotions and the quality of life of the patients before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. The functional exercise compliance of the patients in the two groups after intervention was statistically analyzed. Results: The scores of self-concept (28.66±4.62 points), the health knowledge (28.34±2.16 points), the self-care skills (29.43±3.17 points) and the self-care responsibility (35.54±5.77 points) evaluated by selfmanagement ability scale, and the score of the self-cognition (78.34±4.67 points), the physical symptoms (82.38±5.64 points), the role function (80.49±5.16 points), the emotional function (84.21±5.23 points) and the social function (81.51±5.18 points) evaluated by the quality of life scale of the patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those (24.42±3.58 points, 23.22±3.39 points, 22.28±4.64 points, 29.49±4.58 points, 70.37±3.58 points, 78.29±5.12 points, 72.38±5.21 points, 74.51±5.33 points and 73.59±4.66 points) of the patients in the control group. The scores of self-rating depression scale (43.37±4.17 points) and self-rating anxiety scale (42.48±5.21 points) of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those (47.42±4.28 points and 48.52±5.14 points) of the patients in the control group. The compliance of functional exercise of the patients in the observation group was significantly better than that of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The intervention of the spouse synchronous empowerment health education for the patients with ovarian cancer undergoing postoperative chemotherapy can enhance their self-management ability and the functional exercise compliance, improve their unhealthy emotions and quality of life.
