Abstract To observe the efficacy of Shoutai sijun antai decoction for treating patients with early threatened abortion and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) complicated with insulin resistance, and to study its impacts on the insulin resistance and sex hormone levels of the patients. Methods: 80 patients with early threatened abortion and PCOS complicated with insulin resistance who were treated in the hospital were selected and were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group (40 cases in each group) from June 2021 to June 2023. The patients in the two groups were treated with progesterone injection and dydrogesterone for 2 weeks, and the patients in the observation group were given Shoutai sijun antai decoction for 2 weeks additionally. The changes of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score, the levels of the serum progesterone (P), estradiol (E2), human chorionic gonadotropin β (β-hCG), fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin, and the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) value of the patients in the two groups before and after treatment were observed. The curative effect of the patients in the two groups was evaluated. Results: 2 weeks after treatment, the TCM syndrome score, the levels of the serum, fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin, and the HOMA-I value of the patients in the two groups had decreased significantly, and which of the patients in the observation group were significantly superior to those of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05). The levels of P, E andβ-hCG of the patients in the two groups had increased significantly, and which of the patients in the observation group were significantly superior to those of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05).The total effective rate (95.00%) of the patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that (80.00%) of the patients in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Shoutai sijun antai decoction combined with luteal support of the western medicine progesterone for treating the patients with early threatened abortion and PCOS complicated with insulin resistance can improve their clinical symptoms, relieve their insulin resistance, regulate their hormone levels and improve the efficacy of the fetal protection of the patients.
