Abstract To analyze the effects of clomiphene citrate combined with metformin for treating obese patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) on their sex hormones levels and glucolipid metabolism. Methods: 164 obese patients with PCOS were selected and were randomly divided into two groups from January 2018 to January 2020. 82 patients in the observation group were treated by clomiphene citrate capsule combined with metformin on the 5th day of their menstrual cycle, and 82 patients in the control group were treated by clomiphene citrate capsule only on the 5th day of their menstrual cycle. The changes of sex hormones levels and glucolipid metabolism indexes of the patients in the two groups before and after treatment were observed. Results: The levels of sex hormones, such as follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, testosterone, androstenedione, and estradiol, of the patients in the two groups after treatment had decreased significantly, and the reduction extents of which of the patients in the observation group were significantly more than those of the patients in the control group. The levels of fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin, and the values of insulin resistance index of the patients in the two groups after treatment had decreased significantly, and the reduction extents of which of the patients in the observation group were significantly more than those of the patients in the control group. The levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, and low density lipoprotein of the patients in the two groups after treatment had decreased significantly, while the level of high density lipoprotein of the patients in the two groups after treatment had increased significantly, and the rangeability of which of the patients in the observation group were significantly better than those of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Clomiphene citrate combined with metformin for treating obese patients with PCOS can effectively reduce their sex hormones levels and improve their body glucolipid metabolism with exact clinical efficacy.
