Abstract To explore the clinical effect of two pretreatments of laparoscopic uterine artery temporary occlusion (LUATO) or uterine artery embolization (UAE) combined with hysteroscopic curettage for treating the type II and III cesarean scars pregnancy (CSP) of the women. Methods: 69 women with type II or III CSP from October 2019 to December 2021 were studied retrospectively. These women were divided into two groups according to the different pretreatments, 32 cases were pretreated with LUATO in groups A and 37 cases were pretreated with UAE in group B. The women in the two groups were given hysteroscopic curettage. The situation of the women during and after the operation was compared between the two groups. Results: The women in both groups had completed the operation successfully, and their menstruations were recovery without massive bleeding. The β–HCG level of the women in the two groups had decreased on the first postoperative day, which (72.6±10.7% vs. 78.3±13.3%) had no significant different between the two groups (P>0.05). The hospitalization cost (15758.5±2676.0 Yuan vs. 19410.1±3160.2 Yuan), the incidence of postoperative discomfort (12.5%, 4/32 vs. 59.5%, 22/37), and the postoperative menstrual recovery time (29.9±3.7d vs. 39.3±6.1d) of the women all had significant different between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: LUATO is an effective and safe pretreatment of the women with type II or III CSP before hysteroscopic curettage, which can avoid massive hemorrhage of the women, with less postoperative complications rate, less hospitalization costs, and less influence on the menstruation, comparing with those of UAE, and which can replace UAE in nonemergency situations.
