Abstract To investigate the psychological status and related factors of infertile women with elder childbearing age before assisted reproduction technology (ART). Methods: 203 infertile women with elder childbearing age who had accepted ART were selected in study group, and 203 married normal women were selected in control group according to the age of 1:1 matching during the same period. Questionnaires were issued to investigate the general situation and psychological state of the women in the two groups. The survey results of the women were compared between the two groups, and the related factors influencing the psychological state of the infertile women with elder childbearing age after ART were analyzed. Results: The scores of SAS (45.05±8.74 points) and SDS (45.62±10.03 points) of the women in the study group were higher than those (39.87±9.07 points and 38.05±9.96 points) of the women in the control group (P<0.05), and the rates of anxiety and depression of the women in the study group were 36.0% and 33.0%, respectively. In the study group, the proportions of age ≥40 years old, the duration of infertility >4 years, family annual income ≤ 50,000 Yuan, and previous treatment cost > 50,000 Yuan of the women with anxiety symptoms were significant higher than those of the women without anxiety symptoms, and the proportions of the good conjugal relations, understanding knowledge related to ART, and willing to ART again after initial failure of the women with anxiety symptoms was lower than that of the women without anxiety symptoms (P<0.05). In the study group, the proportions of age ≥40 years old, the duration of infertility >4 years, family annual income ≤ 50,000 Yuan, and previous treatment cost > 50,000 Yuan of the women with depressive symptoms were significant higher than those of the women without depressive symptoms, and the proportions of the good conjugal relations, understanding knowledge related to ART, and willing to ART again after initial failure of the women with depressive symptoms was lower than that of the women without depressive symptoms (P<0.05). M multiple factor analysis showed that age ≥40 years old, the duration of infertility >4 years, previous treatment cost >50 thousand Yuan, and no birth were the risk factors of anxiety of the infertile women, and age ≥40 years old, the duration of infertility >4 years, previous treatment cost >50 thousand Yuan were the risk factors of depression of the infertile women. Conclusion: The infertile women with elder childbearing age generally have obvious anxiety and depression symptoms before ART, which psychological status should be paid attention to and should be given pertinence interval treatment for improving the therapeutic effect.
