Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression and significant of aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in placenta tissue of patients with preeclampsia. Methods:60 patients with severe preeclampsia were selected in the study group from October 2017 to September 2018, and another 60 normal pregnant women were selected in the control group during the same time. The localization of AQP3 in placenta tissue of patients in both groups was detected by immunohistochemistry. The levels of mRNA of AQP3 and AQP3 of patients in both groups were measured by qRT-PCR and western blot. Results:The results by immunohistochemistry showed that AQP3 localized in placenta tissue of patients in both groups, and the expression of AQP3 in placenta tissue of patients in the study group was significant lower than that of patients in the control group (P<0.05).The mRNA level of AQP3 of patients in the study group was 0.81±0.70,which was significant lower than that (1.45±0.18) of patients in the control group (P<0.05). The mRNA level of AQP3 of patients in the study group was 0.53±0.06, which was significant lower than that (0.83±0.02) of patients in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:AQP3 may play a crucial role either in pathogenesis or in the adaptative response regulation of preeclampsia.
