The effect of intervention based on Wechat during the post abortion care of unmarried women |

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of intervention based on Wechat during the post abortion care (PAC) of unmarried women. Methods: 836 unmarried pregnant women who experienced abortion during the first trimester pregnancy were enrolled. After abortion, 209 women in group A were given routine PAC services, while the other women in group B, C, or D were given conventional PAC service combined with service based on WeChat-PAC for one month, for three months, or for six months. All enrolled women accepted baseline survey by qustionar prior to abortion, and their understanding on abortion and contraceptive knowledge were also evaluated by questionnaires at the 1st, 3th, 6th, or 12th month after abortion. Results: The corrective rate of answering question on contraceptive knowledge of women in group B, C, or D was significant higher than that of women in group A (P>0.05). The intervention efficacy of women in group B, C, or D at the 12th month after abortion was 44.9%, 49.7%, or 69.8%, which was significant higher than that (38.3%) of women in group A (P<0.05). Conclusion: Intervention based on Wechat for unmarried women after abortion can improve the effect of PAC services, and can promote the level of knowledge on abortion and contraceptive of unmarried women.
