Abstract To investigate the expression of long non coding RNA family with sequence similarity 99 member A (lncRNA FAM99A) of pregnant women with hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy (HDCP), and to study its associated with the pregnancy outcomes of these women. Methods: The clinical data of 120 pregnant women with HDCP from September 2019 to September 2021 were collected in study group. Among them, there were 40 women with HDCP in group A, 29 women with mild preeclampsia in group B, and 51 women with severe preeclampsia in group C. Another 120 normal pregnant women were selected in control group during the same period. The baseline data of the women in these groups were collected. The level of serum lncRNA FAM99A was detected by fluorescence quantitative PCR. The correlation between the expression level of lncRNA FAM99A of the women and their pregnancy outcomes was analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis. According to the pregnancy outcomes of the women with HDCP, the women in the study groups were divided into group D (87 cases with normal pregnancy outcomes) and group E (33 cases with adverse pregnancy outcomes). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to evaluate the predictive value of lncRNA FAM99A level of the women with HDCP for their adverse pregnancy outcomes. Results: The lncRNA FAM99A expression level of the women had decreased with the aggravation of their HDCP. The rates of the cesarean section due to the indications, the postpartum hemorrhage, the premature birth or post-term birth, and the neonatal asphyxia of the women in the study group were significantly higher than those of the women in the control group (all P<0.05). The serum lncRNA FAM99A level (0.34±0.09) of the women in group E was significantly lower than that (0.77±0.20) of the women in group D (P<0.05). The area under curve, the cut-off value, the sensitivity, and the specificity of the serum lncRNA FAM99A of the women with HDCP for predicting their adverse pregnancy outcomes were 0.797, 0.61, 84.9%, and 70.1%, respectively. Conclusion: The lncRNA FAM99A expression of the pregnant women with HDCP is down regulated, and which is associated with the adverse pregnancy outcomes of these women.
