Abstract To investigate the value of uterine artery hemodynamics parameters by transabdominal ultrasound of women for predicting their threatened abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy and fetal growth restriction (FGR). Methods: The clinic data of 96 pregnant women from May 2017 to December 2020 were enrolled and were divided into two groups according to the examination results, which included 14 women with FGR in group A, 16 women with threatened abortion group in group B, and 66 normal pregnant women in group C. All the women in the three groups received transabdominal ultrasound examination, and their uterine artery hemodynamics parameters, including systolic/diastolic ratio (S/D), resistance index (RI), and pulsatility index (PI) were analyzed. Then receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the predictive value of these uterine artery hemodynamics parameters of the women for their threatened abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy and their FGR. Results: There were no significant differences in the left and right uterine artery hemodynamics parameters, such as the values of S/D, RI, and PI of the women between group A and group B, and which of the women in group A and group B were significantly higher than those of the women in group C (all P<0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the sensitivity of the S/D value, RI value, and PI value of the women for predicting their threatened abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy were 80.0%, 86.7%, and 80.0%, respectively. The specificity of the S/D value, RI value, and PI value of the women for predicting their threatened abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy were 83.3%, 90.9%, and 92.4%, respectively. The sensitivity of the S/D value, RI value, and PI value of the women for diagnosing their FGR were 86.7%, 83.3%, and 73.3%, respectively. The specificity of the S/D value, RI value, and PI value of the women for diagnosing their FGR were 86.3%, 87.9%, and 89.4%, respectively. Conclusion: The uterine artery hemodynamics parameters by transabdominal ultrasound of the pregnant women has better value for predicting their threatened abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy and their FGR.
