Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression levels and clinical significance of specific protein 1 (sp1), fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) of women with endometriosis. Methods: From June 2015 to March 2017, 60 women with endometriosis who experienced abdominal surgery were in the observation group, and another 15 women without endometriosis who experienced tubal infertility treated by laparoscopic surgery were selected in the control group. The expression levels of sp1, FGF2 and VEGF in serum and endometrial tissue of women in the two groups were detected by qRT-PCR, and their diagnostic values for endometriosis were analyzed. Results: The levels of serum sp1, FGF2 and VEGF mRNAs of women in the observation group were significant higher than those of women in the control group (P<0.05). The expression levels of sp1, FGF2 and VEGF in ectopic endometrium were significant higher than those in normal endometrium (P<0.05). The positive expression rates of sp1, FGF2 and VEGF proteins in ectopic endometrium were significant higher than those in normal endometrium (P<0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of serum sp1, FGF2 and VEGF levels for diagnosing endometriosis were 0.846, 0.831, and 0.886, respectively, and the area under curve of serum sp1 level combined with levels of FGF2 and VEGF for diagnosing endometriosis was 0.975. There was a positive correlation between serum sp1 level, FGF2 level, and VEGF level (P<0.05). Conclusion: Levels of SP1, FGF2 and VEGF in serum and ectopic endometrium of women with endometriosis increase, which take part in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, and has some diagnostic value for endometriosis.
