Abstract To investigate the relationships between maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) by PEF/CT examination and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) protein or prognosis of patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC). Methods: 137 patients with EOC were selected into EOC group from July 2014 to March 2015, and the patients with benign epithelial ovarian tumor were in control group. The expression of PCNA protein was detected by immunohistochemistry, the positive index (PI) was calculated, and value of SUVmax of PEF/CT examination and pathological type of patients were collected. The relationship between value of SUVmax and PCNA protein PI value, and their correlations with clinical pathological parameters were compared. According to the median value of SUVmax, and the patients whose SUVmax higher than the median value were in positive group, the other patients were in negative group. KaplanMeier method was used to analyze the total survival of patients in 3 years, COX proportional hazards regression model was used to analyze the influenced factors of patient’s survival. Results: The value of SUVmax of patients in EOC group was significant higher than that of patients in control group (P<0.05).The immunohistochemical results showed that the PCNA protein expression rate and PI value of patients in EOC group were significant higher than those of patients in control group (P<0.05).The value of SUVmax was positive correlation to the expression of PCNA protein, and was also significantly correlated with FIGO stage and the degree of histological differentiation (P<0.05). The expression of PCNA protein was significantly correlated with pathological type and the degree of histological differentiation (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the survival rate of women with negative SUVmax or expression of PCNA protein was significantly higher than that of women with positive SUVmax value or expression of PCNA protein (P<0.05). COX proportional hazards regression analysis showed that value of SUVmax or expression of PCNA protein was independent risk factor for prognosis of patients with EOC. Conclusion: The value of SUVmax for diagnosingEOC and abnormal expression of PCNA protein are closely related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of EOC.
