Abstract To explore the effects of the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) concept combined with the press-needle for treating puerperaes after cesarean section on their postpartum recovery and complications occurrence. Methods: 100 puerperaes after cesarean section were selected and were divided into two groups (50 cases in each group) by random number table from May 2022 to May 2023. The puerperaes in both groups had received the intervention of routine nursing and ERAS nursing, and the puerperaes in the observation group were given press-needle for intervention for 3 days additionally. After intervention, the recovery status (the fundal height, the uterine volume, the time of the first getting out of the bed, the gastrointestinal function recovery time, the first defecation time, the first lactation time and the duration of hospital stay), the difference of daily blood loss within 4 days after surgery, and the incidences of the postoperative complications, such as postpartum gastrointestinal dysfunction, deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and urinary retention, of the puerperaes were compared between the two groups. Results: After intervention, the height of uterine fundus (13.66±1.31cm), the first time of getting out of bed (14.22±3.01h), the recovery time of gastrointestinal function (18.22±4.01h), the first defecation time (39.64±12.82h), the first lactation time (39.30±17.92h) and the duration of hospitalization (7.18±0.44d) of the puerperaes in the observation group were significantly lower than those (14.22±1.26cm, 16.42±3.98h, 21.10±5.74h, 47.64±15.27h, 58.64±24.44h and 7.48±0.65d) of the puerperaes in the control group. The amount of bleeding of the puerperaes in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the puerperaes in the control group. The total incidence of complications of the puerperaes in the observation group (10.0%) was significantly lower than that (32.0%) of the puerperaes in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The press-needle combined with the ERAS concept used for the puerperaes during perioperative period can effectively promote their uterine involution, help their gastrointestinal function recovery and reduce their risk of postpartum complications, and which is beneficial to the prognosis and the rehabilitation of the puerperaes.
