Comparative analysis of three methods of menarche age survey among Han and Mongolian middle school students |

Abstract To analyze the using standard and application scenarios of the paper questionnaire, the face to face inquiry, and the electronic questionnaire in the menarche age survey. Methods: The paper questionnaire, the face to face inquiry, and the electronic questionnaire were used to investigate the menarche age of Han and Mongolian female students in Tongliao region, and the investigation results were compared among the three methods. Results: There was significant difference in the menarche age of the students in both Han nation and Mongolian nation between the paper and the electronic questionnaires (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the menarche age of the students surveyed by the face-to-face inquiry method between Han nation and Mongolian nation (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in the menarche age of the students in Han nation or in Mongolian nation between the paper questionnaires and the faceto-face inquiry method (P>0.05). There was significant difference in the menarche age of all the students between the paper and electronic questionnaires (P<0.01). The menarche age of the students surveyed by the paper questionnaires and by the face-to-face inquiry method in both Han nation and Mongolian nation had significantly different from that surveyed by the electronic questionnaire method (all P<0.0001). Conclusion: The paper questionnaires and the faceto-face inquiry are applied to the survey of the menarche age have higher accuracy. It is recommended that the adolescent health education of the female students from the third grade of the primary school should be conducted according to different focuses every year.
