Abstract To investigate the prevalence of depression of advanced women during the third trimester of pregnancy and after delivery in Haikou area, and to analyze the related influencing factors of the depression. Methods: The advanced women during the third trimester of pregnancy from January 2017 to January 2020 were selected as the research objects. The Edinburgh Post Natal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to evaluate the depression status of these women during the third trimester of pregnancy, and 2 months and 4 months after delivery. And the related factors of their depression status during the third trimester of pregnancy and after delivery were analyzed. Results: 5434 advanced women were included in this study. The incidence of depression of these women during the third trimester of pregnancy was 12.7% (690/5434), that of these women 2 months after delivery was 2.4% (128/5434), and that of these women 4 months after delivery was 1.9% (102/5434). The incidence of depression of these women during the third trimester of pregnancy was significant higher than that of the women after delivery (P<0.05). EPDS score (11.25 ±3.01 point) of the women during the third trimester of pregnancy was positive correlation with that (9.98±4.70 point) of the women 2 months after delivery and that (8.02±4.90 point) of the women 4 months after delivery (r=0.501, 0.334, P<0.05). There were significant differences in educational level, economic condition, history of adverse pregnancy, history of abortion, smoking history, intrapartum complications, health status of newborns, maternal health status, and the women with the family relationship of the women between the two groups (P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that high school education level or below, adverse pregnancy history, abortion history, complications during delivery, abnormal neonatal health status, abnormal maternal health status, poor relevant of the women with their family were the independent risk factors of the depression occurrence of the advanced women during the third trimester of pregnancy and after delivery (P<0.05). Conclusion: The incidence of depression of women during the third trimester of pregnancy and after delivery was high in Haikou area. Family relationship, cultural background, history of adverse pregnancy, and neonatal diseases were the main influencing factors of maternal depression. It is suggested that the psychological and behavioral changes of advanced pregnant and lying-in women should be paid more attention for trying to avoid or prevent the depression occurrence of women during the third trimester of pregnancy and after delivery.
