Abstract Objective: To calculate the cost of traditional contraceptive delivery. Methods: Six districts were selected through stratified sampling. A typical survey method was used to investigate the contraceptive stations among 4 levels in the selected districts. The per capita cost was calculated by cost allocation and the total cost of 2010 was estimated according to the per capita cost roughly. Results: The per capita cost was 16.93 Yuan per year; the total cost was estimated as 103.92 million. The contraceptive cost was 15.1 million (14.5%); the fixed cost was 15.65 million (15.1%); the human cost was 53.65 million (51.6%), and the operating cost was 19.52 million (18.8%). Conclusion: As the human cost is too heavy in the total cost of contraceptive delivery, it is necessary to find a new model to stimulate the internal vitality of contraceptives work through reform and innovation.
