Abstract To analyze the efficacy and recurrent situation of self-made traditional Chinese medicine fumigation bag combined with clotrimazole for treating patients with recurrent candidal vaginitis. Methods: A total of 120 patients with recurrent candida vaginitis were included in this study from January 2018 to February 2022. These patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group (60 cases in each group). The patients in the control group were treated with clotrimazole vaginal tablets, and the patients in the observation group were treated with clotrimazole vaginal tablets combined with self-made Chinese medicine fumigated bag. The levels of inflammatory factors and the changes of vaginal microflora before and after treatment of the patients in the two groups were detected by immunosorbent assay, and the levels of heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) and enolase of the patients in the two groups were detected by doubleantibody sandwich assay. The efficacy, clinical symptom score, inflammatory factors level, Hsp90, enolase, adverse reactions, vaginal microflora, sex life quality, positive rate of candida, and recurrence rate after 3 months of treatment of the patients in the two groups were observed. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate (91.7%) of the patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that (61.7%) of the patients in the control group. The clinical symptoms of the patients in both groups had alleviated significantly, and degree of which of the patients in the observation group was significantly more than that of the patients in the control group. The inflammatory factors levels of the patients in both groups had decreased significantly, and which of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the patients in the control group. The counts of staphylococcus, escherichia coli, and fungal flora in vaginal of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the patients in the control group, but the counts of the bacterioid and lactobacillus flora in vaginal of the patients in the observation group were significantly higher. The levels of Hsp90 and enolase of the patients in both groups had decreased significantly, and which of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the adverse reactions rate (8.3% vs.10.00%) of the patients between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the sexual life quality scores of the patients in both groups had improved significantly, and which of the patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the patients in the control group (P<0.05). After 3 months, the positive rate of candida (7 cases, 9.3%) and the recurrence rate (2 cases, 2.7%) of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those (18 cases, 24.0%, and 11 cases, 14.7%) of the patients in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation bag combined with clotrimazole for treating the patients with recurrent candidal vaginitis can significantly improve their clinical treatment effect, improve their symptoms, their inflammatory factors levels, and their quality of sex life, and reduce the recurrence of candidal vaginitis, without increasing adverse reactions.
